Kusinagar School Hosts Awareness Drive on Women’s Safety and Welfare Schemes

Kushinagar’s Fazilnagar hosted an awareness programme on women’s and girls’ safety, welfare schemes and social evils, where students learned about helplines, government benefits and protection measures.

A women and girls’ safety awareness programme was held on Wednesday at Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School in Jaura Bazaar, Fazilnagar, Kushinagar, focusing on government welfare schemes, safety helplines and social evils. The programme was organised by the Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kushinagar.

District Mission Coordinator Nalin Singh chaired the programme and briefed the students about several government welfare schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Destitute Women Pension Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, Ayushman Golden Card and Old Age Pension. He also explained the eligibility criteria for these schemes and the process for availing their benefits.

Gender Specialist Preeti Singh informed the students about helplines related to the safety and protection of women and girls. She explained the use of Child Helpline 1098, One Stop Centre 181, Women Helpline 1090, Police Assistance 112, Ambulance 108 and 102. The students were told how to seek assistance through these numbers when required.

Vandana Kushwaha spoke about the harmful effects of child marriage and the dowry system and urged the students to remain aware of these social practices. During the programme, the school students also performed a play on child marriage and dowry, conveying a strong message against these social evils.

Assistant Accountant Aman Mishra distributed pamphlets containing information about government schemes and helplines. He appealed to people to help eligible individuals access the benefits available under government welfare schemes.

School Warden Laxmi Pathak and teachers Ravina Sagar, Ranjana Gaur, Anita, Gayatri, Kailashi Devi and Deepika were among those present, along with hundreds of students. The programme concluded with a tree plantation drive on the school premises, delivering a message on environmental protection.
